In September 2025, POSCO International announced the signing of a strategic agreement with China Automotive New Energy Technology and FAW Global for the development of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project with a total capacity of 2 GWh. The contract, effective through 2025 and 2026, marks a decisive step in consolidating POSCO as a key supplier within the large-scale energy storage value chain.
The signing ceremony took place in Tianjin, China, with executives from all parties present. They emphasized that the alliance will drive the global energy transition, ensure supply security, and strengthen cooperation between Korea and China in the lithium battery sector.
This agreement reinforces POSCO’s vision to expand its operations in international markets and position itself as a leading player in sustainable energy solutions, at a time when demand for BESS systems continues to grow rapidly due to the increasing integration of renewable energy into power grids.
